Wie eine Magnetschwebebahn sollen Elektroautos über Autobahnen gleiten und dabei sogar die Akkus für den Stadtverkehr aufladen. Diese Vision hat der Münchener Industriedesigner Christian Förg, der mit seinem Konzept „Speedway“ die Reichweite von E-Autos erhöhen will. Demnach soll die Autobahn zum elektrischen Linearmotor werden: In die Fahrbahn wird eine Spule integriert, in dessen elektromagnetisches Feld sich die E-Autos berührungslos einklinken. Etwa 8,5 Millionen Euro kalkuliert Förg für einen Kilometer Autobahnausbau.
